The WORCK publication platform documents the ongoing working and discussion process as well as collaborative research results and publications of our Working Groups.
The platform enables mutual exchange, collaboration and comparison within and beyond the scientific network of WORCK – on the level of empirical tradition (texts, images, monuments), statistical material and geodata as well as on the level of analytical categories and hermeneutic interpretation.

Our newest Data Story by Josef Köstlbauer follows the traces of a Runaway Slave in the Holy Roman Empire. Based on a variety of sources, it tells the story of Samuel Johannes’ exit from and eventual reentry into a coercive labour relation, and utilises semantic analysis to explore labels, mechanisms of coercion and interactions between different forms of dependency in early modern European societies.
